Eat Eat Eat at Gurney

Monday, April 16th, 2007

After leaving that town filled with old buildings… I went to meet my relatives at Tanjung Bungah.

Then at night…. my parents and I went to Gurney Drive!

We ate and ate and ate!!

when we arrived, that hawker area was already filled with hungry humans everywhere.. could barely find an empty table.

The rojak damn nice can!! Apart from the fruits, they ogt cuttlefish inside! and the black sause.. warao.. feel like wanna swim in the pool of rojaks..

This one was nice.. but I prefer KL char kuey teow.. cos its drier.. and has more dark soya sauce.

[Correction: MUAR CHI (MOO - ARE - CHEE)] Sticky dumpling kinda thing wrapped in sugar and peanut. A bit too soft. KL version is more tangy.

here is a video of me hunting for food.

See what I was seeing.. and feel the crowd yo.

More food tomorrow!

Rooms to Let

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

This is the last part of my post about the trip to the town.

So here’s a big photo to end it. :D

and a smaller photo to accompany it

and lastly, a photo of the person who shot it.

Reflection on the car window.

Down the road

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

As I walk along the road, I saw more.. I snapped more.

Just felt that its a good spot to fully utilise the 50mm 1.4 lol

There were still many shops selling these kinda tshirts for kids.

This has gotta be my FAVOURITE shot.

Was about to switch off my camera cos I decided to walk back to the car when I saw this.. so i quickly snapped it. Luckily the settings were correct.

At the end of the road there were some old kopitiams and food hawkers. I got attracted by the colourful spicy objects.

Trishaw and the man

Friday, April 13th, 2007

After lunch, I went to the town area… was a bit reluctant to go actually.. cos too chaotic over there… but then I really wanted to have my lil street photo shoot before meeting up my relatives at Tangjung Bungah…

so I went.. and started snapping.

This post is focused on two subjects. The trishaw and the old man.

It was parked by the roadside… I was attracted to it and I started squatting and kneeling and lying around it… when I heard a voice.

“young man, is this yours?”

It was a voice of an old man. I turned around and saw an elderly looking at me with a camera lens cap in his palm.

The word on the lens cap says “SONY”

I told him that it wasn’t mine and I continued snapping.

The old man was talking again, but this time the voice was softer.. as if he was talking to me from quite a distance.

He was sitting at the bus stop behind me.

“Are you from Singapore?”

“No.. im from KL”, I replied. Then I added “may I take a shot of you?”

He agreed and posed for me.

Thanks uncle! hehe

Then he stood up and walked towards another old man who was already standing there looking at the traffic.

I snapped them.

Im not sure if you guys see it, but I can somehow see some vanishing point element in this photo.

anyways, guess I should do my part in contributing to the “Visit Malaysia Year” campaign. :D

Ipoh Street in Penang

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Ho ho ho! the moment I arrived in Penang, I went to the hotel to check in. It was Naza Hotel.. located next to the Chinese Swimming Club.

After that, we went for lunch at Gurney plaza. Didnt know why we were there.. but we were there lah… so we went down to LG and mum saw this shop. Ipoh Street.

So we went and try.. thought it would be like Oldtown Kopitiam in KL… but..

the food sux!!

The curry mee was ok.. not bad.. boleh tahan.. can stand.

sux: tasteless.

Sux: chicken was like rubber.. cold.. and the mushroom gravy was stupid.

one bowl of curry mee costs about rm5-6 there. lol. damn joke.

then we went out of the building to rest and to chill at coffee bean.

hmm what’s next? Which part of Penang did I go to?

Journey to Penang

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Let’s talk about Malaysia.

Let’s talk about food.

Let’s talk about… my trip to Penang.

So.. about 10 days ago, I went back to Penang with my parents for ChingMing. Havent been going back for about 2 years already.. haha

so anyways.. we drove.. and as usual, we would stop halfway for food and also to rest a bitbit..

I took some pics.

The food there sux. Thats y there were so many empty seats.

I didnt eat. I then walked around the fruit stalls.

People started looking at me when I was squatting down in front of the guavas.

Ipoh is famous for its pomelos… but we were not in Ipoh at that time. Fake pomelos?

“wow, taking photos for some magazine?” he asked.
I smiled and then I asked if he would like to pose for the camera. He was shy but he finally gave it a try. I snapped. :D

of course I snapped some other pics but too much of something is never good.

so i guess i will stop here.. and continue my journey to the land of char kuey teow..

Penang here I come.. lalala

Monday, April 9th, 2007

Dinner with my parents.. at San francisco Steakhouse, Midvalley.

We went there quite early.. at about 6pm… so it was still quite empty

ok yummymummy food time.

my dad had a sharksfin soup and i had a bowl of prawn bisque. didnt take photos of those.. but I can say that the Prawn Bisque from ‘Delicious’ in Bangsar Village and 1U tasted better.

Dad ordered this. RM29.90

Mum always order this… hmm.. maybe she likes seafood too much. RM42.90

This one’s mine! Yummmmmm ahahah I love lamb shanks. This one was good… but can be improved… the lamb shank should be braised longer… anyways… its RM29.90

Then I had dessert.

This one sux. RM12.90

ok lah… overall not bad. Recommended.

ok… one more restaurant covered.

Where else after this? Did I go to another state to enjoy good food? :D
