OK MTV Worldstage 2010 concert took place just now and I was at the press conference in the afternoon and the concert at night at Sunway Surf Beach.

Here’s a summary of what happened today along with some photos and an awesome video at the end. MORE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS IN SEPTEMBER!

At the press conference, we get to have a Q&A session with the performing artistes. First up was Bunkface… our local stars.. followed by the Wondergirls.

Then it was Tokio Hotel. Love this shot of Bill Kaulitz the lead singer.

Last but not least… Katy Perry the Hot and Cold California Gurl! woot!

After the press con ended, I took a photo with UTT. He said I look familiar. Thats cos we met at the 2009 MTV Worldstage and also 2008 MTV Asia Awards.

Check out how UTT Pimped smashpOp.net yo!

At about 430pm we all queued to enter the surf beach.

NO DSLRs allowed! oh noes! Was using the Sony NEX3 for the concert shots n videos.

It was raining! Even the MTV poncho was not enough to cover us from the rain… but it was fun!

Check out the crowd yo!

Wondergirls doing the “Nobody but chu!”

Check out the full day of MTV Worldstage summarised into 2.5minutes!

I’m A Designer. I Produce Nice Things. lol

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Met up with some of my little cousins few days ago and as usual we talked about everyday stuff and all that jazz. Some of them started talking about studies and interests and all, asking me what I do as my job and my tertiary education.
After telling them some grandmother stories, I thought why not I write a post about this lah… just covering briefly on my education and my job as a web/graphic designer.

So basically I graduated in Computing & Multimedia and stuff I learnt back in Uni were programming, web, networking and multimedia.

I started having interest in designing when I was in the 1st year and had been learning some of the design related softwares on my own like Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver. The banner above was one of my earlier design works on my blog. Was still very new and was trying out different styles and techniques.

After I got out of uni, I took a job as a web designer in a teen community and started exploring on a lot of design related works like web design, merchandise design, vehicle design, print designs (some stuff I had never done before during my time in uni)

In the images above you can see some of my design works for buntings, banners, print ads for magazines and newspapers, merchandise designs like paper bags, tshirts, angpau packets, vehicle designs including a heli (which was a shock when I was asked to design), etc.

More stuff I did with other brands in the industry after that. I think design is a very vast field where we can pour out our creativity anyway we like it. Most importantly, it’s never a boring job as you create different things everyday, colourful art, industrial art, whatever you call it, they are all categorized as a ‘work of art’.

Just the other day my cousin who wanted to study something related to the creative line, went to visit the new Lakeside campus of Taylor’s University College and was telling me the experience she got and I was intrigued, so I went to check their site : www.taylors.edu.my . I went thru the section of graphics design school and their course which covers all the aspects of design which I think is very good. They provide Diploma in Interior Design, Diploma in Graphic Communication Design, and Diploma in Multimedia Design.

The courses duration are just 2.5 – 3 years which is very fast (not like the old times when we had to study for 3-4 years, haha)

I personally would love to take on the Graphic Communication Design course (if I could) as they cover stuff like visual representation of ideas and messages, artistic and professional disciplines, which focus on visual communication and presentation, such as magazines, advertisements, product packaging and web design.

Here are some examples of the student’s creation. Not bad right? (for second semester kids ok la… )

Self Portraits Prints exhibited during an end of semester exhibition.

Game Project: The popular movie, Pirates of the Caribbean was interpreted into a board game.

Yup, Taylor’s Design School believes in education beyond the classroom. There are exhibitions and various activities for them to explore their abilities by putting to test the knowledge and skills they picked up in their classes.

Even better, students get to go on local and overseas field trips, & there are regular design-related events and activities and competitions for them to join.

I think the Multimedia Design programme is good too. Good technologies to learn if you want to design or build applications & games, which is a big money industry now!

Example of students works:

Interior Design is not my thing but it’s another part of Taylor’s Design School (TDS). Well, I know a blogger friend who graduated from there – missycheerio!

Is it a chair? Is it a wine bottle rack? You figure!

I didn’t know you can study Visual Merchandising under the Interior Design programme!

Product display created by students for Interior Behavioral Study classes

KL Marathon Concepts

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Today is the day I break 2 records in my life.  It was my first time running at a marathon event. It’s also my first time running 10km nonstop and managed to complete it in 1 hr and 20 mins. hehe.

I woke up today at 5am… got ready and met up with Junn and took the LRT to Merdeka Square to meet the rest of Siao Gang for the 10km run.

We arrived there at about 630am and the crowd has already filled the place. Runners who did the 42km run started running as early as 5am!! Crazy.

Took this shot after I completed the run. Didnt bring along my phone thats why no photos of us running.

Met a lot of people there… I think there were at least 20-30 familar faces I met. Some of them were NikiCheong, Evo, Selena, Kennysia etc etc. Photos will be posted in September when I blog about this again in detailed.

I managed to finish the run within the timeframe and got myself a medal. Happiness. LOL

A group shot before we left for breakfast at 10am. More photos in September! :D
