United Buddy Bears Malaysia Launch At Pavilion KL

Saturday, December 10th, 2011

So I was at the launch event of the United Buddy Bears yesterday and it was a fun outing at Pavilion KL.

What bears? United Buddy Bears are a series of painted, life size bear sculptures from Berlin, Germany. The first bear was created by Kluas and Eva Herlitz from Germany.

The mission of the United Buddy Bears World tour is to deliver the message of tolerance, peaceful co-existence and support for children in need. The bears have become a symbol to many around the world as ambassadors to peace and unity.

We were there early so we hung out around the area and took some group photos.

The buddy bears stand together with hands raised up: “Hand in Hand” symbolising the future vision of a peaceful world.

This hemsem guy raise hand pulak… no meaning wan.. just for fun only haha.

These life size United Buddy Bears are 2m tall and are made of fibre glass. All 143 bears are from different countries. Each of them reflects their nation’s own culture, history, traditions and characteristics painted by an artist from that country.

The event was to officiate the tour to Malaysia and also the launch of our very own Buddy Bear! It was not revealed at first as it was to be done by the Mayor himself.

Buddy Bear jump yo! lol

After an hour, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Ahmad Fuad bin Ismail, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur finally arrived.

The launch of the Malaysia Buddy Bear! This is the second bear to represent our nation, the first bear is now standing proud at the premises of the Malaysian Embassy in Berlin.

This United Buddy Bears World Tostarts on the 8th of December 2011 to 15th February 2011. Be sure to check them out.
